Server maintenance 05/04/2020

Hi All,

The server has suddenly gotten busy again probably due to the current happenings in the world. The poor server's hardware is getting on in years now and as Minecraft gets hungrier and hungrier for computing power the server becomes less and less able to handle it. To help it a little I've purchased a new CPU for the server which is the absolute fastest chip available for the socket. I will be bringing the server down for an hour or so on the evening of Monday, May 4th in order to replace the CPU. Hopefully it'll give the server a better shot at handling the increased load.

I'm sad to report that this upgrade failed. The new CPU did not work in the server. I'm not sure if the CPU itself was bad or simply incompatible with the hardware. In either case I had to put the old CPU back in. No speed upgrade this week
